Over 30 man years of experience in the sports sector have allowed us to build up knowledge of the functional requirements of this sector, initially on the commercial aspects of sport organisations such as The Jockey Club, The Rugby Football League and The Guinness Premiership have all used Green 4 CRM and eMarketing software as the commercial platform for their business. As our experience of this industry has deepened, it has allowed us to consider other areas of functionality that are required by this sector.
Since early 2008 Green 4 has worked with other governing bodies such as the Norwegian Football League, the Professional Soccer League (PSL) in South Africa and CCPR in the UK to investigate streamlining the administrative processes in sport. As much of the requirement has centred on the management of clubs, players and officials, the CRM engine with its core management of contacts and organisations has been the natural start point. Our focus has been on developing the functionality and processes to manage the very specific requirements of a sport’s governing body and sports clubs, from player registrations to discipline to managing match day events. The administrative burden for many governing bodies is difficult to manage with a limited resource, and is an obvious target for the introduction of technology. A simple example is the use of our electronic communications engine to notify individuals of specific tasks such as a drugs test or the use of our workflow tool to automate processes such as match allocations to officials or player registrations.
The PSL in South Africa uses a solution from Green 4 to improve efficiency when it comes to player registration and media accreditation. The Green 4 platform has been used effectively by the PSL to inform them how many journalists attended each game and as a means of providing an integrated registration portal to manage each player’s career.
Through our work we have come to understand that the needs of all sports NGB’s and clubs are not the same and therefore it is not possible to address all needs with a single set of standard off the shelf modules. However, we have recognised that there are similarities and that the core needs are similar. The size and complexity of the organisation determines how automated these processes can become. Green 4 have will work closely with all customers to ensure individual needs are met through the system.
