Employee Spotlight - Sam Taylor

The second up for our Employee Spotlight feature is Sam Taylor who joined the Green4 Go+ team on a placement year during his time studying at Coventry University.

What is your job role at Green 4, and what do you do on a day-to-day basis?

Planning strategies and marketing campaigns to support GO+ customers and helping them find their target audience!

How long have you worked for Green 4?

Nearly 9 months now as part of my Student placement and I don’t want my time to end!

What have been your impressions of the leisure and attraction industry?

It’s fantastic! Knowing that you can directly impact the valuable leisure time people have so that it’s as enjoyable as possible! It’s a fast paced environment but all 100% worth it when it all pays off!

What would be your number one tip to leisure and attraction operators in order to get them to attract more visitors and increase engagement?

From my experience so far, using segmentation to deliver campaigns that are as relevant to each individual as possible! Knowing the value and behaviour of your segments is important for encouraging casual visitors to become loyal visitors!

What is the biggest issue that leisure and attraction operators face?

Creating an experience that will be unique no matter how many times a visitor attends! There’s so many typologies of visitors, it’s tough to provide so it suits all!

First song bought?

Bought?! It’s always been online for streaming! But the 'Night Visions' album by Imagine Dragons was the first album I really loved.

The song you’d sing at karaoke?

Good ol’ classic - 'American Pie' by Don McLean! God knows how or why but somehow I always remember the words! 'Mr Brightside' by The Killers is always a fail safe option!

Worst job you’ve had (hopefully not this one ;) )?

Once I worked in a catering truck for a weekend making hugely over-priced doughnuts. Charging £5 for 6 little bits of dough which didn’t even have a hole in was scandalous!

Favourite Film?

Always a fan of the early 'Fast and Furious' films! They’re not the greatest of all time but always find myself coming back to them.

Who would play you in a movie about yourself?

It would have to be a good actor... so in that case I'd have to pick Leonardo Dicaprio - it would be an honour!

Favourite Food?

Full roast dinner with all the trimmings, no argument.

Favourite Drink?

A nice cold pint at the end of a week... as they say, first one is always the best.

Favourite Holiday/Place to go on holiday?

I have been to Barcelona twice and was amazed by it both times, such a vibrant place and I love the Spanish culture!

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

So many choices! Just got one of those scratch off maps of the world so it would be to make a start on that! The America’s are the only continents I haven’t reached yet so there first!

Favourite leisure activity?

Playing football! Something about running around after a ball that makes all stresses disappear - until I’m well out of breath at least!

Favourite day out?

Any day spent out in the sun and ending with a BBQ will go down a treat…is it summer yet?!?!

Favourite sport/team?

Nottingham Forest! If you ignore that we haven’t been in the Premier League for 20 years or so then we’re the greatest team in the world!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

When the weather is good, going out for the day with my partner for a picnic and relaxing in the sun.

What one thing could you never give up?

I could never be told I have to stop playing football, no matter what happens. I want to still play when I’m 100!!

Your biggest achievement?

When the day comes that I win any Fantasy Football league...any, just once...

Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I used played for Kuwait Harps Gaelic football and competed in a couple of international tournaments in the GCC Middle East region! Playing in 40 degree heat in Abu Dhabi was not as fun as it sounds though!
